5 out of 5 stars Thankful National Weekly Edition Reader in San Diego   April 15, 2007

I live in San Diego, California, and receive the NATIONAL WEEKLY EDITION of THE WASHINGTON TIMES by US Mail.

San Diego only has one subscription newspaper, THE SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, which is left-leaning, especially on important local issues such as the illegal alien invasion. THE LOS ANGELES TIMES and NORTH COUNTY TIMES are even worse! People who want real and important information have NO WHERE ELSE TO GO than THE WASHINGTON TIMES. Recent subjects such as the fact that there are now over 600,000 fugitive illegal aliens in the country (up from 300,000 just after 9/11!) would go completely unreported, if not for THE WASHINGTON TIMES.

Thank heaven for THE WASHINGTON TIMES.

4 out of 5 stars Great Stuff--But Too Much from AP   November 12, 2006

As a former Washington Post reader I was constantly bothered by the ridiculous liberal bias that the Post has. I put up with it just long enough until I received a gift subscription to the Times. Wow, what a difference. Instead of the leftist slop that the Post puts out, the Times contains informative and factual reporting. While it has a negative reputation, in recent times the Times has become much more substantive and legitimate. The political reporting and opinion pieces in the Times are far superior to the Post's. The Metro section is so good, that even the Post envies it! While national coverage is often off the wire (AP or Reuters), the Times does contain some great international reporting of Iraq and the such. While many liberals accuse the Times of being a far-right Moonie production, that couldn't be further from the truth. As an athiest, I myself have never been offended by the Time's stories. Certainly the stories are sometimes slanted towards a religious point of view and the quotes around marriage in gay 'marriage' always amuse me, but the paper is never overly biased one way or another. In fact, it is much less biased than the Post. If you are a conservative, independent, or like-minded Democrat in the DC area the Times is a must. If you want to annoy your insane liberal colleagues at work, the Times works perfectly. And finally, if you are tired of reading falsified stories in the Washington Com-post, purchase a subscription to the Washington Times immediately.

4 out of 5 stars Its strength is in its opinion writing   March 27, 2006

This paper has some of the best opinion - writers in the business, including the exceptionally good Mark Steyn. But its international news- round up is weak, and it generally as a 'news' paper does not provide the kind of detailed , investigative reporting that a paper must if it is to be in the highest rank.

5 out of 5 stars Drives liberals crazy   December 27, 2005

Great conservative viewpoint. In a market dominated by liberal spin machines this is an oasis. Sure it is owned by Sun Myung Moon but this is not evident in its output since it is firmly under the control of a very capable editor. News and opinion without the constant bashing of our president and the snootiness of the "intellectual left". Oh.. and liberals hate it...Gotta love it.

This newspaper is to news reporting as military music is to music. It is a travesty. It is crap. It is the Faux News of the print world. It is owned by Sun Myung MOON, fer god's sake! What do you expect?
