1 out of 5 stars Never received a single issue. Ended up canceling   September 6, 2008
I waited 4 months and never received a single issue and ended up canceling. Amazon should seriously consider dropping this magazine provider. I would have rated this zero stars if I could.

1 out of 5 stars Think twice before ordering subscriptions   August 28, 2008

It is now 9 weeks since I ordered a subscription to THE ECONOMIST through Amazon. I have not yet received my first issue, yet my credit card was charged immediately. Order direct from THE ECONOMIST and you will get your first issue within 2 weeks for the same price, and payment is not due until after you have received your first issue. THE ECONOMIST is a fine magazine. However, beware of their billing department. In my case, they tried to bill twice for the same subscription.

3 out of 5 stars In depth and original, yet dull   August 19, 2008
"The Economist" is a scholarly news magazine with a focus on the economic side of things. It streams in each week with many overlong articles. You could dedicate an entire evening or two reading the magazine cover to cover, but you probably wouldn't want to. Many of the articles aren't of general interest, but may be up the alley of a macroeconomist. The publisher appears to long for a globalized free-market world. A good magazine for some, perhaps, but not for many, I would say.

I would recommend "The Week" and "U.S. News and World Report" instead of "The Economist."
