4 out of 5 stars I like it but a little pricey   January 24, 2008
Why is it that every moisturizer from a cosmetic company has to be so costly? At $48 a bottle for just over an ounce I had to think twice before making this purchase.

I have sensitive skin and tried a few days worth of sample from Sephora. I had gone through their samples of Murad, DDF, Boscia and a few others before deciding on this one. I didn't notice any smell which is good since fragrances are known to irritate the skin. It goes on smooth, isn't overly thick and won't clog pores. It also has an SPF (something that I'm not used to using but of the ones I tried at Sephora liked this product the most).

I wish this came in a bigger size and the 1 ounce was cheaper. Using it only once a day in the morning though helps it last.

3 out of 5 stars Ok but overpriced   June 28, 2007
Yes, the smell is better than the Cosmedicine skin serum and the formula is light. However, I find it to be no better than Paula Dorf daily moisturiser SPF 20 or Olay daily moisturiser SPF 15. Both are light, absorbed quickly and have sufficient SPF and best of all, there's no need to overspend.

3 out of 5 stars Allergic reaction   June 12, 2007

This moisturizer is light and smells ok, the dual action as an spf is nice too - that's what sold me. However, I had a strange allergic reaction to it every time applied (I tested it maybe 7-8 times) - my eyes became red and started burning. It was an almost immediate reaction every time, so there's no doubt it's the moisturizer that caused this. I'm disappointed and feel it's not worth the cost.

4 out of 5 stars As Miss Klinger Spins in Her Grave...   February 11, 2007

I agree with the previous reviewers that this moisturizer has some very good things going for it. However, I disagree that the fragrance is one of them, hence my 1-star demerit.
I've used Georgette Klinger products for 30+ years and I'm here to tell ya that Miss Klinger would no more have used fragrance or chemical preservatives in a face product than she would battery acid. This is the first time in all those years that I've applied a product that carried the Klinger name that has actually stung (not tingled--STUNG) my skin, and the same goes for a number of other items in this line that I've sampled (not purchased, fortunately) and for which I'll write separate reviews.
The legend is that a teenage Miss Klinger won a beauty contest in her native Czechoslovakia (this, BTW, is not surprising; even as an elderly lady she was gorgeous, with the most beautiful milk-and-roses skin I've ever seen in all my 52 years), the prize for which was a huge set of cosmetics. Upon application, she broke out in the rash from hell and had to figure out what to do to rid herself of the disfiguring eruptions. This catalyzed a lifelong obsession with skin care, and I can honestly testify, after having referred many people with problem skin to the Madison Ave. salon, that this lady got cutting-edge results with her "less is more/keep it simple and CLEAN" philosphy. Not that she was a natural ingredients advocate, mind you--she was an eclectic whose chemists combined the best elements of all worlds to create the least irritating, most effective products possible. And they STILL work (although the line has been greatly reduced since her daughter sold the company prior to Miss Klinger's death).
The Johns Hopkins imprimatur on this line should count for a lot and the employees in the Madison Ave. salon give it rave reviews. But the fact that so many of these products contain fragrance is just an indication to me that the current owners and Johns Hopkins really don't "get it" and have no idea of what Miss Klinger was about. I realize that this is an attempt to create a "one size fits all" group of Klinger products that can be purchased by anyone (unlike the salon items, for which an individual analysis is necessary for a much more individually tailored routine), but "all" would be a larger group if the fragrances were eliminated.
Bottom line, this moisturizer is excellent for those with no skin sensitivities, but I don't need, nor can I tolerate, perfume on my face.

5 out of 5 stars perfect!   January 23, 2007
This is the best moisturizer I've found yet...very lightweight, pleasant smell (not perfumy) and soaks in quickly. Doesn't feel like it has SPF...never gives that greasy feeling that can suffocate the skin. Using this line my makeup goes on much more nicely...love it!
